Jershon Tanksley's Obituary
Mr. Jershon(JT) Tanksley departed this life and entered into his heavenly home on 11/21/12. Jershon Tanksley was born in Albany, New York at Albany Medical Center on January 7, 1959. He was the son of the late of Ethel B. Hill and Samuel L. Tanksley Sr.
At an early age he accepted Christ, was baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of late Rev Oliver J. Brooks. He attended Mt Calvary and was very active under the leadership of Rev Robert W. Dixon until he relocated to Georgia.
He graduated from Albany High School, Russell Sage College and attended Rochester University where he studied Business Administration. He was employed at Niagara Mohawk for 17 years. He participated on several occasions to help those who were affected by "ICE STORMS" He enjoyed helping others.
Jershon retired at an early age to do the things that he enjoyed doing.
Jershon was a humble man with a quiet spirit and great wisdom. A man who had his priorities in order. He loved God, his Mom & Dad, His wife, daughter, sisters, brothers, his dog "BUDDY" and "The entire Tanksley Family". He loved talking about people who has passed on and were influential in his life. He loved to pray, he loved to counsel his daughter in her future endeavors. He loved talking to his brothers about the "lucky horse". He loved the beauty of thoroughbred horses. He loved and took great care of his Dog Buddy even though the rest of the family was scared to death of him. (smile). He also liked going to Silver Comet trail to walk his Dog. He loved spending time with his sisters and brothers reflecting on the "good ole times". He enjoyed watching sports.
He loved Sweet Water Park. His favorite pass time was to look across the lake and enjoy natures beauty. He loved praise and worship service and praying to God.
To sum it up he was an extraordinary man that was only placed on this earth as an Angel to spread the love of kindness to his family and friends and all that he met.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted wife, Patricia Tanksley of Douglasville; daughter, Jabraya Tanksley of Providence Rhode Island; Four sisters,
Beatrice(Marvin)Harris of Newark, New Jersey, Gail Tanksley-Harris(John) of Albany, New York, Sandra Tanksley of Dallas Texas, Michelle Rowland(Larry) of Bronx, New York, and Donna Tanksley of Alpharetta; Two Brothers, Rickey Tanksley of Dallas, Texas and Samuel L. Tanksley, Jr of Albany, New York.
Uncles: Marvin Tanksley(Annis) of Albany New York and Donald Hill of Augusta.
Aunts: Robbie Green of Delmar, New York, Bernice Tanksley of Albany , New York and Betty Hill of Augusta
A host of nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
