Jerry was a very kind man. I remember him from White Haven Assembly of God In Memphis Tennessee. I was just a child but he helped my mom out a lot. My mom was a single mother with four children. He encouraged her in so many ways and taught her how to pursue her purpose. I know God has a special reward for him in heaven for the goodness of his heart.
I just found out about Jerry and I was griefstricken. Finding out that Jerry was able to work so graciously while battling cancer is a huge encouragement and inspiration to me. I too am battling the same insidious disease and it is my dream to be able to return to my wonderful job as a flight attendant.

I had only met Jerry once or twice before he moved in next to me in Austell, GA on Wilhelmina Drive. The home had been empty for over 2 years, so I was delighted that someone was moving in as an owner occupant. I was really happy to find out that my next-door neighbor (Jerry) was a man with a very pleasant personality and warm spirit. Yes - I was able to see that in him with our two brief encounters. So, therefore I was looking forward to getting to know Jerry as my new next-door neighbor. The news of Jerry loss took me by surprise and my heart goes out to his family and friends. Although I didn't know Jerry as well, my prayers are with Jim and his family.
My thoughts and prayers are extended to the "Sluka" family! Jerry, was an associate Pastor of youth and music with my dad, Rev. Robert Ray, at First A/G in Peoria, IL. I have so many stories, I wouldn't know where to begin! I need to start writing them down, and look through old photos so I may send them to you. God's speed! Blessed, Tonya Ray Berry.
So very sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. In Peoria, he sang at our wedding in 1974. He then prayed with us at the hospital in 1980 when our daughter was born with Spina bifada. Jerry was an important part of 2 of our major life events....thanks to his family for sharing him with us....and imagine the glorious time he's having with the Father now!

When I came to Peoria 41 years ago Jerry was the first person I met. He was fun, knowledgeable and deeply caring. He pushed me to try and do better. He married my wife an me and we loved him for the pre-marriage counselling. I was so sorry when he left Peoria for other pusuits. We've not kept in touch but I've thought of him often. Jerry, thank you for living.
