Jerry Alton Ammons' Obituary
Jerry Alton Ammons was born to Lissie Lee Blackwell and Harold H. Ammons on May 5, 1949.
He married Delores Garmon on May 24, 1968. They had two children, a daughter, Lori and a son, Chuck. Jerry worked for 50 years in the trucking industry, driving an 18-wheeler for several companies with the handle Two-timer and making many, many friends. Delores says “If you were a friend of Jerry’s, then you had a friend for life.” Jerry belonged to Leland Masonic Lodge in Mableton. Jerry loved hunting, fishing, and vacationing with his family. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his son “Chuck”, and his parents-in-law, Gene and Joyce Garmon. Jerry left behind his wife, Delores; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori & Scott Kelley; his grandsons, Taylor Ammons and Joshua Kelley; and granddaughter, Gracie Kelley; his sister, Jean Thompson; and brother Ronnie Ammons; and brother & sister-in-law Bill and Annette Ammons; sister-in-law, Cindy (DC) Herendeen; many nephews and nieces and many, many friends. Jerry (or Dobodee, as the grandkids called him) will be dearly missed by his family and all his friends. Funeral Services will be held Monday, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
In keeping with current precautions due to COVID-19, we are requesting that anyone visiting wear a mask and maintains social distancing.
