Jane Estes Bailey's Obituary
Jane Estes Bailey entered the Church Triumphant on July 24, 2016, at the age of 93. She was a resident of the Presbyterian Village in Austell, Ga.
Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on June 25, 1923, she was the daughter of Harald C. and Hulda Gotshall Estes and stepdaughter of Frieda VanSickle Estes. She was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants. She graduated from Mt. Holyoke College in 1945 with a degree in Economics and Sociology. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, Ga. In addition to church, her family was the most important part of her life, to which she devoted herself as loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was the wife of the late Rev. Donald B. Bailey, Sr. She is survived by a sister, Ruth Estes Woodruff, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and by three sons: Don Bailey, Jr. of Chapel Hill, N.C., and his wife, Pam; Harald Bailey of Huntsville, Ala., and his wife, Virginia; and David Bailey of Anderson, S.C., and his wife, Claire. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Lara Bailey, Rebecca (Joel) Wright, Nathaniel Bailey, Erin (Derek) Newberry, Allison (Cody) Cash, John Bailey, Caroline Bailey, and Bennett Bailey; and by five great grandchildren: Eaden, Elsa, and Mable Wright, and Dawson and Mac Newberry.
A memorial service will be held on July 30 at 3:00 p.m. in the Lakeview Room at the Presbyterian Village, officiated by Chaplain Chris Moore-Keish.
