James LIndsey "Jim" Simpson's Obituary
James Lindsey Simpson "Jim", age 85 of Marietta, completed his time with us on March 16, 2012 and went to join the many loved ones that had gone before. He was born on December 1, 1926 in Fultondale, Alabama, the seventh child of James Lindsey Simpson and Lillian Blanche House Simpson. In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased in death by three brothers: Beverly, John, and Rector; and three sisters: Thelma Knox, Lillian Goodwin, and Elsie Turner. In May of 1949 Jim married Ruth Garrett. They were married for 56 years before Ruth passed away in 2006. After serving in the United States Army during World War II, Jim began his 40+ year career with Reynolds/Alcoa, retiring in 1988. Before moving to Marietta in 1974, Jim lived in Tarrant, Alabama and was a member of Rock United Methodist Church. After moving to Georgia, Jim became a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Mableton, Georgia. Jim is survived by his beloved daughter, Jackie Ruth Ellerbee and her husband, Dexter, of Acworth, Georgia. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Ruth White of Bandera, Texas. He was also loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends. The funeral will be held at Walker Chapel Funeral Home in Fultondale, Alabama on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 1:00 PM CDT.
