James Edwin "Ed" Oliver's Obituary
James Edwin “Ed” Oliver (age 80) of Marietta passed away July 4, 2015. Ed was a native of Atlanta, Georgia, attended West Fulton High School, served in the United States Navy and attended Georgia State. Upon his discharge from the Navy he went to work for the Atlanta Coca Cola Bottling Company and was (at the time) the youngest route driver ever hired. He rose through the ranks at Coca Cola to become a Corporate Account Chain Manager. After 33 years at Coke, he retired and later began a second career with General Wholesale Company where he retired after 25 years as a Corporate Chain Account Manager.
Ed was preceded in death by his Parents Carlin and Louise Oliver, his Son, Ricky Oliver, Daughter, DeAnne Oliver and Brother Tommy Oliver.
He is survived by his Wife, Betty Mahle Oliver, Daughter, Cindy LaGesse (Dan); Son, Jimmy Oliver; Brother, Ronnie Oliver (Brenda); Grandchildren, Chris Fleming and Jason Fleming (Kym); Great-Grandchildren Madeline and Sarah Fleming; Sophie, Abbie, and Charlie Fleming; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm at David Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Terry Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 – 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
