James Edward McGarity's Obituary
James “Jamie” Edward McGarity, age 41, of Douglasville passed away August 14, 2020. Jamie was a member of Mableton Pentecostal Church. He was very passionate and knowledgeable about cars and hot rods, and his love of cars started from a young age. He started building cars when he was just 15 years old, and his first car was one that he had built himself. Jamie was well-connected in the car and hot rod community, and was even featured in a magazine article about his 1968 Chevrolet Nova. In addition to his love of cars, he also enjoyed collecting pocket watches and knives. At the time of his passing, Jamie was retired.
He is preceded in death by his father, Marvin McGarity, Sr.; and both of his paternal and maternal grandparents. Jamie is survived by his mother, Sandra McGarity of Douglasville; siblings, Marvin McGarity, Jr. of Douglasville, and Rhonda Alice of Lilburn; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 18th, 3:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
