Jacquelyn "Jackie" Ellerbee's Obituary
On Tuesday, November 3, 2020 Jackie Ellerbee entered her heavenly home into the loving arms of her Savior and loved ones who had gone before. While we rejoice for Jackie’s reward in Heaven, we are saddened we are left to care for ourselves. To know Jackie was to know what caring for others meant to her. When diagnosed with cancer only a couple of months ago, Jackie stated she did not know how to be the recipient of care. She knew only how to be a caregiver; which was her true calling. Realizing her calling at a young age, Jackie began working in the healthcare profession in 1978 and spent the next 42 years working for the Wellstar family of hospitals, completing her career at Kennestone. Jackie was born December 22, 1955 in Tarrant, AL, and lived there with her family until she graduated from high school; the family then moved to Marietta, GA. After moving to Marietta, Jackie met the love of her life, Dexter Ellerbee. They married in 1993 and were married for 22 ½ years before Dexter’s passing in 2016. She is also predeceased by her parents, Jim and Ruth Simpson of Marietta, GA. Survivors include her brother and his wife, Lynn and Ruth White of Bandera, TX; niece, Pam Ghanaati and her husband, Reza of Norman, OK and their children, Abe, Liza, and Sonya, and grandchildren, Tyler and Ezra; niece, Becky Kothmann and her husband, Conrad of Bandera, TX and their children, Carson and Brooks (who were fondly called “the Cowboys” by Aunt Jackie); nephew, Matthew Ellerbee and his wife, Rebekah of Canton, GA. and their daughter, Sarah Elaine. Also left to grieve her loss are numerous cousins, friends, and co-workers who were like family to Jackie. Her funeral will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 10:00am with visitation on Sunday, November 8, 2020 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm. Visitation and funeral will be held at Davis Struempf Funeral Home at 1975 East-West Connector, Austell, GA, with burial at Kennesaw Memorial Park located at 1306 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, GA.
In keeping with current precautions due to COVID-19, we are requesting that anyone visiting wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
For those wishing to view the funeral virtually, Mrs. Ellerbee's funeral service will be live-streamed at the above listed time on her Tribute Page at www.davisstruempf.com.
