Jacqueline Day's Obituary
Ms. Jacqueline Day, affectionately known as “Jackie”, “Nana” and “Mama Day”, 67 of Smyrna, GA, passed away Monday, February 11th passed away unexpectedly. She was born in Colombia, Mississippi, on July 02, 1951 to Walter Irvin Sr and Fleeta Irvin.
Jackie was educated in the Youngstown Public School System and graduated from South High School in 1969, before going on to receive additional education in college.
Jackie took pride in working with others and devoted her professional career to the Division of Treasury; Department of Pension and Benefits. In her spare time, she sewed and crocheted, created amazing meals, shopped and doted on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found joy in the happiness of others and her kind-heartedness was incomparable.
Jackie was a woman who touched our lives in many different ways. To know Jackie was to know that she had a strong zeal and passion about the things she enjoyed and loved in life. For instance, Jackie was an amazing seamstress; creating not only one but all three of her daughter’s prom dresses!
Jackie was predeceased by her daughter Renite Day-Jackson, father Walter Irvin Sr., brother Curtis Irvin and two nieces Sasha and Kelli Irvin. She is survived by her loving mother Fleeta, two daughters Dellena Day (Rel) and Sharea Farmer (Al-Lateef), and son Lawrence Day Jr. (Sasha); her sister Judy Frith (Andrew), brothers Walter Irvin Jr. and Mark Irvin. Additionally, her grandchildren Briana, Brion and Logan, great-grandchildren Zion and Aubree and number of nieces, nephew, cousins, friends, and lives she touched along her journey.
Today, and forever, we celebrate her wonderful spirit, joy, and talents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 3:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 3:00 PM before the service. A repast will be held after the service.
