Irene Harcrow Agricola's Obituary
Irene Harcrow Agricola, affectionately known as “Nanny”, age 97, of Mableton passed away April 24, 2020. Irene was a long-time member of Trinity Methodist Church, having joined in 1962. She was part-owner of Classic Jewelers in Austell for many years. Irene was described as “smart as a whip” and enjoyed challenging crosswords. She was also good with figures, and you’ve never seen someone get so excited over a bank statement and balancing the checkbook! Irene was married to her husband, Charles, for 67 years, before his passing in 2000. They met in storybook fashion; Charles was on a train that was passing through Austell, heading to basic training in Alabama. He threw out his address out of the train window…and Irene picked it up! They wrote back and forth and he eventually moved from Brooklyn to be his love. Now they are together once more.
Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Agricola; her parents and siblings; and daughter-in-law, Joan Agricola. She is survived by her children, Cathy Agricola and Charles S. Agricola, both of Mableton; and grandchildren, Chrissy Agricola of Mableton and Kevin (Shanda) Agricola of Cumming.
