Ida Mae Gosnell's Obituary
Mrs. Ida Mae Lee (Granny) Gosnell, age 89, passed away on June 13, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Irby Lee and Lilla Landrum Lee. Preceded in death by her husband W. B. Gosnell, Daughter Nancy Anne Gosnell Cash, Grandson Patrick Lee Gosnell, Brothers Nelson, Garrett, John Thomas Lee. She was the last member of the 1936 Graduation Class of Mableton High School. Mrs. Gosnell was Valedictorian of her class. She was active in her community as a member of the Progressive Club in Mableton. She was a lifetime member of the Georgia P T A. She was a past president of the Mableton Elementary School P T A and an active member of several South Cobb County Schools. She was also active in Athletic and Band Booster Clubs at Pebblebrook High School. Mrs. Gosnell worked at Bell Bomber Aircraft during WWII. She was an avid gardener as long as her health allowed. She was also known for her baking skills for all school functions. Known as Granny by many students in the South Cobb area, Mrs. Gosnell was a mentor to many students. Survived by sister, Rose Lee Browning, of Hiram, brother Gene Lee, of Hiram, daughter Grace Gosnell Radford (husband Wilbur), of Powder Springs. Sons Andy of Newnan, Skipper ( Wife Lenora), of Kenedy, Tx., Doug (Wife Missy) Gosnell, of Calhoun. Granddaughters/Daughters—Judith Cash Hanthorn (Greg), of Mableton, Pamela Cash Ferguson (Mike), of Austell. Special sons and daughter Harold Gosnell, of Mableton, Matt Barfield, of Temple, Shirley Gosnell Goin ,of Oregon. Grandchildren, Chrissy Radford Wells (Rick), of Powder Springs. Eddie Radford (Andrea), of Powder Springs. Lynda Radford Buckner, of Dallas. Micheal Radford (Christie), of Dallas, Leonard Gosnell, of Calgary, Canada, Jody Gosnell, of Dalton, Amy Gosnell, of Dalton, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great- great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society Mableton Chapter. Mrs. Gosnell will be at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, June 15, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be in the Davis-Struempf Chapel on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Barber Cemetery, Mableton, GA.
