Howard Martin, born in 1942 in Atlanta, GA, passed away early Sunday morning, August 30th, at his home peacefully in Austell, GA. He attended O’Keefe High School in the late 50’s and later graduated from West Fulton High in 1960. Read Obituary
Red Martin was a friend to all. He was a pillar in the greatest town to grow up in...Smyrna, Ga. He shared 2 loves with my dad... Fishing and the greatest game of all....Baseball. Red always gave words of wisdom and encouragement. May God Bless the entire Martin Family. Tony Lattanzi
Howard was one of the good ones, a dear friend and will be greatly missed. We shared some memorable times fishing,golfing,working in the shop and selling at crafts shows together. He was always ready to help if needed.

I first met Coach Red when I become one of his players at All Tournaments Players Park on the Red Diamonds. I later came to find out that he and my grandparents have been long time friends, so I ended up spending a lot of time with him. He was one of the best men I have ever met. The lessons he taught me for the brief time I was under his mentorship have stuck with me forever. He taught me about hardwork, about being a good man, and how to have good character. I even stole his Ken's Corner Grill order and still order it to this day. I hope he is resting in paradise and I send all my prayers and love out to his family and all those who could call him an honorary member of theirs.

Coach Red was a wonderful man and I am proud to been able to call him a friend. I had the the privilege of helping him carry on the Campbell 7th and 8th grade baseball program when he was not able to. Believe me it was a privilege, he shared his knowledge of baseball with me and so many young men In Smyrna. These young men were very proud to play for this great coach and we were all the better for it. My prayers go out to Ms. Jean and the rest of the family. Love to all
I think he was my favorite person growing up and I have so many memories at Brinkley Park. I was just a kid and we connected as I seemed to always be at the park all day long for my brothers tournaments. I am not sure why I developed the name "peanut" from him, but I did and it stuck. This man was a great man and influenced so many kids growing up in Smyrna. Big Red......that was his name to all of us. You're going to be missed by so many.
