Hasani Kamau Widemond's Obituary
Hasani Widemond, born November 1977 in Wuerzburg, Germany, passed away on August
31, 2024, while surrounded by his beloved family. The youngest of three siblings, Hasani's early
life as a "military brat" instilled in him the importance of building connections and fostering
community, skills that would become his hallmark throughout his life.
Hasani's journey took him from Germany to Clayton County, Georgia, where he graduated from
Jonesboro High School in 1996. His athletic prowess was evident during his high school years,
particularly in baseball, where his formidable pitching arm earned him recognition. He continued
to hone his skills at Howard University, where he also met Takeia Locke, who would become his
cherished partner in life nearly a decade later. Hasani and Takeia married, beginning a
partnership that would define his later years.
After completing his Bachelor’s in Business Administration – Computer Information Systems at
Howard University in 2001, Hasani pursued further education, earning his MBA from Mercer
University. His professional success was matched by his personal passions. Whether fishing,
running, brewing beer, crafting candles and soap, or spending time with his family, Hasani
approached every endeavor with enthusiasm and dedication.
Hasani's greatest achievement, however, was his role as a father. His unwavering commitment to
his wife, four children, and extended family was the cornerstone of his life. He embodied the
spirit of family and community, with an infectious smile and a saying that encapsulated his
outlook: "Nobody has it better than us!"
Hasani Widemond leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and enduring friendships. His presence in
the community and the hearts of those who knew him will be profoundly missed. He is survived
by his wife, four children, and two siblings.
In celebrating his life, we remember Hasani for his loyalty, his passion for life, and the indelible
mark he has left on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, September 15th, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
Flowers are kindly and gratefully accepted.
