Harry Glen Stewart Jr.'s Obituary
Harry Glen Stewart, Jr. of Marietta passed away peacefully on the night of November 24, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on January 31, 1952, to Harry Glen Stewart, Sr. and Rose Mary Stewart in the military hospital at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia.
He grew up in Atlanta, attending St. Anthony Catholic School and Church in the West End, Brown High School and St. Joseph High School. Glen played football for both high schools and proved to be very athletic throughout his life. He became an avid runner, completing several half and full marathons and many Peachtree Road Races.
Glen always had a natural talent towards creative arts which revealed itself early in life with remarkable illustrations and sketches. He perfected his artistic talent and became an entrepreneur in graphic design, opening his company, Unique Photo Arts. He achieved global commercial success by partnering with Scientific Games Corp. to produce the nation’s first scratch-off lottery tickets.
He was also very creative in musical arts and taught himself to play guitar as a teenager that allowed him to explore his musical talent throughout his life. He became well known in several clubs in Florida and Georgia where he performed in various bands on weekends and special events.
In 1982, his only child, Natalie was born during his first marriage.
He was very active in the parish of St. Ann in Marietta, becoming a 4th-degree knight with the Knights of Columbus.
A vivacious man of many talents, Glen later went on to open a restaurant called Chicken Out! in Miramar Beach, FL before spending a few years in Colorado and ultimately returning to Atlanta, entering the title insurance industry as a sales rep for Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company, then Stewart Title Guaranty Company.
He loved astronomy, technology, aviation, gardening, cooking, and had an expansive passion for music.
Glen is preceded in death by both his parents; his older sister Barbara Holcomb, and his nephew, Allen Holcomb.
He is survived by his elementary school sweetheart and wife of 22 years, Kathryn Miller Stewart, of Marietta, his daughter Natalie A. Kennel of Peachtree Corners, grandkids Thurston, Heather, and Clara, and his stepdaughter, Missi Ford and stepson, Kyle Levstek, his wife Crystal and their children Cloey and Carter. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn Martin of Dawsonville, and twin sister Lynn McCorvey of Franklinton, NC, and nephew Brian Holcomb of Duluth.
