Harris Farmer's Obituary
Mr. W. Harris Farmer, age 94 of Austell, passed away November 21, 2011. Harris served his country in World War II. Then, in the early 1950s, he was one of the founders of Austell Christian Church. He later helped to found the Sweetwater Valley Youth Association and served two terms on the Austell City Council. Harris was retired from Big Star Corp. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Gayle Farmer Newsom and is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carrie Farmer; sons, Ronald Farmer of Villa Rica and Alan Farmer of Decatur; son-in-law, Donald Newsom of Austell; grandchildren, Derek Farmer, Greg Farmer, Matthew Newsom, Wesley Newsom; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Funeral services will be held at Davis-Struempf Chapel on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Clay Henry officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
