Rev. Harold "Glenn" Townsend's Obituary
Rev. Harold “Glenn” Townsend, age 90, of Powder Springs passed away June 20, 2020. Glenn was a long-time minister to the area. He started out serving Antioch Baptist Church, and went on to serve Post Oak Baptist Church for 19 years. He was best at loving his flock, and had a heart for people. Glenn had dedicated his life to preaching God’s word.
In his free time, Glenn loved to go fishing, especially taking fishing trips with his son, Ricky. He also enjoyed racing and fast cars and knew a lot about the mechanics of racing vehicles.
Glenn is preceded in death by his mother and father, Richard Carter and Susie Irene Townsend. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Darlene “Dot” Townsend; sons, Ricky Glenn (Karen Sue) Townsend of Blairsville, Jeff Lee Townsend of Powder Springs, and John Timothy Townsend of Powder Springs; siblings, Eunice Jones (Raymond) of Marietta and James Townsend (Shirley) of Powder Springs; grandchildren, Melanie, Felicia, Katie, Blake, Quinton, and Jessamie; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 23, 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Tibbetts and Rev. Tommy Payne officiating. Interment will follow the service at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 to 1:00 PM and again from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Faith Baptist Church, 5083 Hiram Lithia Springs Rd, Powder Springs, GA 30127.
