Harold is survived by his daughter, Barbara LoRusso, and her husband, Lance LoRusso of Marietta. He is predeceased by his wife, Alline Rutherford Gore, and his parents, Clarence and Bessie Gore.
Harold was raised in Austell and was an active member of Austell First Baptist Church. He started his professional career as a delivery boy in his father’s Austell grocery store. Harold was always a “numbers guy.” In the late 40’s, he was a Purser aboard the SS Henry Lomb for Lykes Bros. Shipping Lines based out of New Orleans. He served in the Merchant Marines and as an Army Sergeant at the end of WW II. After his return to Atlanta, he headed the credit committee for the Federal Employees Credit Union and eventually retired from the US Dept of Housing and Urban Development. In this role, he was part of the team that created Consumer Credit Counselors of Atlanta to help citizens manage their money and credit issues.
Harold developed a great love of jazz, specifically Dixieland jazz during his time in New Orleans. Upon returning to Atlanta, he married the sister of his long time pal, Raymond Rutherford. Harold and Alline had a daughter, Barbara, and enjoyed 45 years together before Alline passed in 2007. They loved traveling and serving in their church. They were loving and supportive parents, always proud of Barbara and her husband, Lance.
Harold was a fun-loving person who never met a stranger and always had a smile and a joke for everyone. He was truly a care taker at heart and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
