Grace Yuvone Layne Williams' Obituary
Grace Yuvone Layne Williams, affectionately known as “Bubbles”, age 91, of Mableton passed away surrounded by her family on December 1, 2024.
Grace was born to Howard Layne and Eddie Ilene White Layne in Palmer, TN. She living in the Palmer and Chattanooga areas for a majority of her young life. In 1953, following her marriage, Grace moved to her house in Mableton and lived there the rest of her life.
Grace was a joyful person to be around. She enjoyed music, dancing, reading, and spending time with her family. Her frequent walks and constant “crunching the numbers” kept her mind sharp as a tack. Grace was a social butterfly and an excellent listener. She made you feel valued and cared for. Grace also had a heart for animals, especially dogs and birds, and animals would gravitate toward her. They sensed her kindness and affection for them. Fiercely independent, but also private, Grace was a wonderful role model for her children and grandchildren and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Grace is preceded in death by her grandsons, Kelvin Newton and Casey Lee Hall.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Hall Askea of Mableton and Wesley Williams (Adria McGrogan) of Mableton; siblings, Jennifer Smith (Gary) of Sale Creek, TN and Charles Dewitt Layne (Naoma) of Jasper, TN; five grandchildren, Christine Redwine (Tommy), Matthew Holland, Anthony Askea, Jeremy Askea, and Amy Gray; four great-grandchildren, Landon Shrum, Aaron Michael Gilliam, and Taylor Redwine; along with many extended family and friends.
