Gertrell Mozelle Miller's Obituary
Gertrell M. Miller, age 95, passed away December 16, 2016. Gertrell was born February 4, 1921 to Jason C. Forrester and Stella Reece in Ellijay, Georgia. She was the middle daughter of five girls. Edgle Carrol. Opal Erwin, Evelyn King, Inez Hardin. Gertrell and her family left Ellijay and moved across Fort Mountain to Dalton, Georgia in 1935 and went to work at the Crown Mill. She married the love of her life in 1943, F.M. Miller. He worked for Southern Railroad. They had a son, David L. Miller and daughter, Marsha K. Miller. My dad was then transferred to Inman Yard in Atlanta. They bought their home in Austell in 1955 and settled. She started working at Nell’s Flower Shop in Austell around 1959. She retired around 1989. They were members of Austell First Baptist Church and members of the South Cobb Lions Club. They were very involved with the Lighthouse for the Blind and C.A.M.P.
She is survived by her children, David (Sheila) Miller; Marsha Chatham; sister, Opal Erwin; grandchildren, David (Shannon) Miller, Jr.; Lisa (Sean) Massey; Christi (Jeff) Shrewsberry; Mike (Virginia) Garrett and Pam Corley; great-grandchildren, Amber Jacob Macie Shrewsberry; Chase Justin Massey; Micah, Ivy, Jace Garrett; Jeremy and Jessica Jones; Christin Hooks and Breanna Miller; nieces and nephews, Tommy (Norma) Hardin; Bonnie (Kenny) Williams; Mickey (Natlie) Erwin; Carol(Sid) Jenkins. She is loved by all.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, 1:00 PM at Davis- Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00-6:00PM at the funeral home.
