George Jeffrey "Jeff" Lester's Obituary
George Jeffrey “Jeff” Lester, age 69, of Austell passed away July 25, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.
Jeff was born to George and Ellen Lester in Grundy, VA; and moved to Norfolk in 1955, which is where he spent much of his childhood. About 32 years ago, he moved to the metro-Atlanta area, where he was introduced to and married the love of his life, Tammy Harris Lester.
Jeff was a born-and-bred outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, guns, and his beloved dog and best friend, Browning. His family reminisced, “If Browning wasn’t invited, Jeff wasn’t going.” Jeff was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, J.D., Raymond, Maxine, Jackie. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Tammy Lester; son, Dennis Lester (wife, Logan) of Columbia, SC, and daughter, Christina Lester of Greenville, SC; siblings, Bobby Lester (wife, Brenda) of Abingdon, VA and Pat Chappell of Berryville, AR; grandchildren, Aidan Grillot, Skylar Lester, and Chesney Feltman; and many beloved extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 29, 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Chaplain Jud Henley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Powder Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
