Gail Butler Anderson's Obituary
Gail Butler Anderson, age 70, of Dallas passed away April 1, 2024.
Gail was born to Jesse Delware Butler, Sr. and Joyce Elizabeth Butler in Douglasville. She grew up in Douglasville, being raised by her mother, Joyce, and a man she considered her father figure, Jack Dempsey. Gail graduated from Osborne High School, Class of 1971.
Gail had a successful career and made many long-time friends in the petroleum industry. She was proudly retired and enjoyed living her life to the fullest. She adored the beach, going on cruises, and playing the slot machines. Gail was an avid bowler and competed for many years in a league with her husband, Wayne. On game days, she could be found rooting for her Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. Music was extremely important, and Gail loved to share her favorite tunes with her family. But above all, Gail loved her grandbabies and treasured spending time with them.
Let it not go unsaid that Gail was a hard-working single mother for most of her sons’ childhood. In adulthood, looking back, you begin to realize just how much your parents sacrifice for you. She never failed to make their lives special, from waking them up on Saturday mornings with Alabama or Kenny Rogers albums, to working 2 or 3 jobs to make sure Christmas was memorable. Gail was a wonderful mother and Mawmaw and her hard work and dedication to her children and grandchildren leaves behind a legacy of love.
She is now bowling her 300 in Heaven.
Gail was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Delware Butler, Sr.; father figure, Jack Dempsey; brother, Dale Butler; and husband of 20 years, Jesse “Wayne” Anderson.
She is survived by her loving sons, David Marcus (Mercy) and Jason Marcus (Amanda); step-son, Chris Anderson (Amanda); mother, Joyce Aaron; sister, Vickie Towns (John); grandchildren, Kevin (Jenna), Brady, Hanna (Nathan), Rayleigh, Reese, Landon, Justus, Emma, Jake, Gerrard, Gwen, Lily, Zaine, and Brooklyn; great-grandchild, Callie; one great-grandchild on the way, Trenton; and many beloved extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
