Floyd Glenn Moffett, Sr.'s Obituary
Floyd Glenn Moffett, Sr. of Mableton, Ga. died on April 5, 2016, after a long, interesting life of 98+ years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gary Moffett, married 69 years. He is survived by two children: F. Glenn Moffett, Jr. (Linda) of Atlanta and Lynn Holbrook (Bob) of Mableton; 5 grandsons: Matt Moffett (Diane) of Atlanta, Mike Moffett of Santa Fe, N,M., Brian Holbrook (Trisha) of Mableton, Jason Holbrook (Paula) of Mableton, Jeff Holbrook (Michelle) of Mableton: 7 great-grandchildren: Kate Moffett, Brad Moffett, Avery Holbrook, Kendall Moffett, Megan Moffett, Cameron Holbrook, Sienna Holbrook; 2 sisters and one brother: Ruth Baumann of Toccoa, Ga., Mary Hitt of Toccoa, Ga., Max Moffett (Jo) of Arlington, Va., nieces and nephews.
Mr. Moffett was born in Franklin, N.C. in 1917 and served in the Army and Navy during WWII. He worked as a conductor and switchman 30 years for Southern Railway and was then a broker in his own company, First Union Realty. He also served as Justice of the Peace and Magistrate in Cobb Country, Georgia. For over 50 years Mr. Moffett belonged to the Mableton Masonic Lodge #171. He was a long time member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Smyrna, Ga. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Bethany United Methodist Church Building Fund, 760 Hurt Road, Smyrna, Ga. 30082.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home, 1975 East-West Connector, Austell, Ga.30106 (770-944-2900). Interment service will be held on Friday, 12:30 p.m., at the Georgia Veterans National Cemetery, 1080 Veterans Cemetery Road, Canton, Ga. 30114. The Reverend Dr. G. Robert Gary officiating.
