Faye Melton Cook's Obituary
Mrs. Frances "Faye" Melton Cook passed away peacefully on September 6, 2010 with her family by her side. She was the widow of Earnest G. Cook of Johnson City, TN. They were married 67 years. Mrs. Cook is survived by three of her five children: Michael E. Cook, his wife Carolyn Cook, and children, Karen R. Cook and Darren M. Cook all of Austell; Faye Cook Webb of Virginia Beach, VA and her grandson Matthew W. Wright; Kenneth V. Cook of Rock Hill, SC, and his son David Cook, his wife Krista Cook, children, Chloe and Genevieve of VanWyck, SC. Mrs. Cook was raised in Monroe, NC and graduated from Prospect High School. Trained as a secretary, she worked in her field until her marriage to Ernest. After raising the children, Faye returned to the work force as a matron in a girls detention center in Belvidere, NJ. After a family move to Johnson City, TN, Faye was employed by Johnson City Medical Center as a nutritional specialist for over 20 years. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Davis-Struempf Chapel on Thursday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bret DeHart officiating. Graveside service will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM at Washington County Memory Gardens in Johnson City, TN.
