Everett Camp's Obituary
Born in Paulding County on March 27, 1921, to Bessie Lee and Ross Major Camp, Everett is survived by his wife of 61 years Hazel Jones Camp. Daughters are Lynn Camp, Smyrna, GA, and Penny Camp (Don Dean) of Lexington, KY; son Phil Camp (Sandy) of Greer, SC; grandchildren Cresta (David) Weissenburger of Monroe, NC, and John-Philip Camp of Greer, SC; and one great-granddaughter Reagan Weissenburger of Monroe, NC. Three sisters also survive him: Mrs. Lillian Pascoe of Cartersville, Mrs. Alleyne Ellerby of Clarkdale, and Mrs. Marian Blackston of Clarkdale as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His brother Alvin Camp and his sister Alma Lou Robertson preceded him in death.
Everett was a World War II Army veteran serving in France and decorated with two Purple Hearts. He retired from Georgia Power following 44 years of service. Throughout his years he enjoyed membership in Rotary and Lions Clubs and was active in local churches. He enjoyed bowling and golf while living at Fairfield Plantation in Carroll County.
A memorial service in celebration of Everett’s life will be at Davis-Struempf Chapel on Friday, November 9, 2007, 11:00 AM, with Rev. Berman Cape, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park, 1700 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, with a private family service.
