Dear Family, what a wonderful, kind, strong, caring, & talented young man Enrique was. He lived his life for others benefit & joy every day. I became more acquainted with him this year and delighted in his excitement at senior meetings, events, the senior breakfast, practices. All these leading up to the big event, Graduation 2016! As he was waiting to walk across the stage to receive his diploma, I stand to calm, adjust tassels etc. so pictures will be perfect. When Enrique came through, he was smiling that big smile. I reached to shake his hand as I congratulated him. He reached up & gave me a big hug. The picture posted is the same joyful smile that i will always remember.
It was not until this semester that I learned about his long battle with sickle cell when I accompanied him to hospital after an episode at school. His pain was no match for his bravery, strength, & wiil power. After he returned to school, his smile & greeting continued to brighten our days.
His musical talent & potential for success in college were recognized by University of Arkansas awarding him a full scholarship. Now his talent & joy will ring for all of heaven to share & enjoy. And for all of us to live our lives the way Enrique Dor lived as a positive model all to follow. He will be missed but not forgotten.
Sincerely,
Ms Marilyn Porterfield
