Ella Patricia Thompson's Obituary
Ella Patricia Thompson was born on February 3, 1964, in Atlanta, Georgia to Willie James Thompson, Sr. and Magnolia Wilson Thompson. She returned to her Lord when she passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, May 25, 2017.
As a native Atlantan, Ella graduated from Therrell High School in Southwest Atlanta in 1981, then later attended Shorter College where she received a degree in Business Administration.
Ella excelled in her career in the banking industry for over 30 years. She started her career at Southern Federal Savings Bank and was later employed with Citizens Trust Bank for over 14 years where she held many positions, including a Bank Secrecy Act Officer (BSA), Regional Manager, and Branch Coordinator. After leaving Citizens Trust Bank, Ella held other positions where she was consistently recognized for her expertise, hard work and dedication in the industry. As a woman of ambition, Ella started her consulting business, Ellavations Consulting, LLC, through which she provided comprehensive solutions and expertise services in federal and state regulatory compliance. She was well-respected for her knowledge, professionalism, diligence, high ethical standards, and persistence towards excellence in all of her endeavors.
Ella received her strong faith from her praying mother. With this foundation, she accepted Christ at an early age and believed that faith was an essential part of life. She was a devoted member at Word of Faith for over 12 years. She served as the Assistant Leader for the Training and Development Team of the Word of Faith Cornucopia Ministry where she was dedicated to helping the desolate and unfortunate. Ella extended her belief in Christ through her consistent generosity to others and always offered a prayer wherever needed. Her faith was resilient, unyielding, and steadfast and was demonstrated throughout her life.
Ella was most known for the love she shared with her family—especially her one and only daughter, Tawanda, who she cherished dearly. “Family first” wasn’t just a slogan for her; it was a motto by which she lived her life. She often opened her doors to host wonderful, high-spirited, enjoyable, and memorable family events on many occasions. From Thanksgiving dinner to Father’s Day celebrations, it brought her joy to see family members spending time together to reinforce kinship and love. Her commitment to loved ones was unwavering.
Ella leaves to celebrate her life a beautiful, loving daughter, Tawanda Denise Thompson (Tawani), confidant and niece Candice Neal, lifelong friend, Kevin Block, brothers Lemuel Neal, Jr., James Bolden, Tommy Lee Neal, and Willie James Thompson, Jr (Burnadette), and a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and one sibling, Robert (Bobby) Neal. Ella’s infectious, sweet smile and her bright, giving spirit will always be remembered by those who knew her and loved her dearly.
