Elenore "Ellie" Butler's Obituary
Mrs. Elenore Ellfeldt Bell Butler “Ellie,” age 88 of Lithia Springs, Georgia, died peacefully in her home Saturday, January 12, 2013.
Mrs. Butler was born to the late Wilbur and Helen Ellfeldt in Chicago, Illinois. She attended Peabody Teacher’s College before accepting employment for Howard Aircraft Corporation. Within a few years she interviewed to be a stewardess for Chicago & Southern Airlines, which would later become Delta Airlines. It was while working for C&S that she met her husband Jack Bell, a pilot.
Elenore and Jack married April 26, 1947 in Chicago and lived in Memphis Tennessee. Of that union there were three children. In December 1972, Elenore married Roswell Ison Butler in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Mrs. Butler was involved in a multitude of business ventures where she held high positions and received many honors and awards. She was also very active in her church, First Evangelical in Memphis and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. She was a wonderful hostess, an avid reader, and always loved to be with family pets: Arthur, Addy, Gus, and Coco.
Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by Jack Reid Bell, Sr. and Roswell Ison Butler, as well as brother, William “Billy” Ellfeldt. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Jacquelyn Bell & Laurie V. Jones of Enid, Mississippi; sons & daughters-in-law, Jack Reid & Debby Bell of Lithia Springs, Georgia, and Mark William & Dawn Bell of Marietta, Georgia; step-daughters, Beth Vandergriff and Roslyn Boren; grandchildren, Laurie Voltz Jones III “Chip” (Betsy,) Katherine Elizabeth Costa (Jeff,) Julianne Kaitlin Jones, Jack Reid Bell III (Cindy,) Roswell David Bell “Ros” (Jessica;) step-grandchildren, Matthew and Amelia Thompson; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Joshna Jones, and Christian and Haden Bell.
Funeral services honoring Mrs. Butler will be held at Davis-Struempf Chapel on Tuesday, January 15th at 1:00 PM. Rev. Laurie Jones and Rev. David York will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday beginning at 12 noon. Interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery following the service.
