Edmund Walenty Drenzek's Obituary
Edmund Walenty Drenzek, age 90, of Smyrna passed away surrounded by his loving daughters on April 23, 2023.
Edmund was born in Detroit, MI to Walenty and Antionette Drenzek, and was the youngest of six children. He belonged to a very tight-knit family and he cherished those relationships.
Edmund proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1956. He worked for Chevrolet Engineering for 35 years, then retired to Plant City, Florida for nearly 30 years. Prior to retirement, and was a longtime member and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus – Lakeshore Council in St. Clair Shores, MI.
In his free time, Edmund enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his nephews in Michigan. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Edmund is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 58 years, Betty Cross Drenzek; sisters, Mary Kolasa, Veronica Lekki, and Leocadia Bobrowiecki; and brothers, Joseph Drenzek and William Drenzek.
He is survived by his daughters, Dr. Cherie Drenzek and Dr. Anne Marie Moir, both of Smyrna; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 28th, 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Brian Sheridan officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
