Eddie Lee Massey Sr.'s Obituary
Ed passed away on December 3rd. He lived a long happy life. He has left us with precious memories we will always treasure. He was born in Cobb County on July 17, 1931. He was the youngest of 7 children born to Love and Gertrude Massey. The family moved to Eatonton before settling down on Grand Ave in Atlanta. He attended Center Hill Elementary school along with West Fulton High School. He met the love of his life and they got married on April 1, 1950. Ed and Drew had 4 children, Stan, Deb Sharon and Eddie Jr. He was well known in the racing community. He owned and was a crew chief for some of the best drivers in the country. Most of them are now in the hall of fame. He was a welder by trade before moving on to driving trucks. He retired from the Teamsters Union in 1989. He is preceded in death by both his parents, his 4 brothers and 2 sisters and his granddaughter Stephanie. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Monday 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Barton officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
