Earl C. Parks' Obituary
Earl Cecil Parks of Austell, GA, died January 24, 2010. Born November 13, l934, in Paulding County, GA, he is survived by wife, Peggy, and children, Leesa Kim Parks, Karen Kristie Parks Crump, and Keith Earl Parks; grandchildren, Kyle Ryland Crump and wife Alisha, Carly Brianna Crump Jenings, Sierra Nicole Parks, and Marissa Kaye Parks; and great-grandson, Brady Wayne Jennings. Also surviving are his sister Joann Parks Davidson, niece Cheryl Ann Davidson Argo, and grandnieces Amy Brumbelow Redman, her husband Wally and children, Josh and Seth; and Monica Waters Damron, her husband B.J. and children, Nick and Emma. He was predeceased by nephew, Steven Earl Davidson, and niece Cathy Parks Davidson Waters. Also surviving are his aunt Morene Browning and aunt Sarah Parks, widow of Ernest Parks, and several cousins. He attended Vanderbilt University and Tennessee Tech on football scholarships. After college, he worked in retail management for W.T.Grant Co., Zayre's, and Carp's Dept. Stores in Florida, then in restaurant management primarily for RTM Restaurant Group. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and boating on Lake Allatoona, UGA football, and family vacation trips to his favorite beach, Cape San Blas, FL. After retirement, he enjoyed baking cakes for family and friends, and he loved taking trips to Ellijay to purchase apples for his children and grandchildren. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2005 and was an inspiration to all who knew him in his courageous fight throughout extensive treatment. He was a member of Orange Hill Baptist Church for more than 40 years. Memorial donations may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, (MMRF) 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 11:00 AM, at Davis-Struempf Chapel, with Rev. David Warriner officiating. Interment will be in Rockmart Memory Gardens, Rockmart, GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home and Crematory, Austell.
