Dorothy Jean Watts' Obituary
Dorothy Jean Watts passed peacefully on Thursday, August 10th in Hiram, GA at the age of 88. She was known by many as Sister Dot or Granny.
Born in 1935 in Mableton, GA, she was always a hard worker who enjoyed anything that kept her outdoors including gardening, farming, and yard work. She had a love for canning and giving away her harvests to others. As a child she learned to play piano by ear and served at various churches in need of a pianist. She was a devout woman of faith and displayed this through her care of others. For many years she cared for her elder sister, Eunice, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman and Leila Duncan; her husband, Howard Watts; her four older siblings; and her great-grandson, Cory Sargent. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Mitchell; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for visitation on Sunday, August 13th from 4:00-6:00 pm and Monday, August 14th from 12:00-1:00 pm. The memorial service will take place on Monday, August 14th at 1:00 pm at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home in Austell, GA. Graveside service to follow at Sunrise. The service will be officiated by Raymond Pettitt.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be sent to Help 4 HD International (help4hd.org) in love and memory of Cory Sargent.
