Doris Hembree Gramling's Obituary
Doris Hembree Gramling, 94,of Austell, Georgia, went to heaven on January 30, 2019.
Her life was centered around her family and church. She was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy (Powder Springs Christian Fellowship) in Powder Springs and wanted everyone to know the love of God and meet her in heaven. She enjoyed family reunions, meeting people, making crafts and quilts, and reading. She worked as an inspector at Bell Aircraft during WW II, and years later retired from Dixie Bearings. Possibly the highlight of her life was her trip to Ireland, where she kissed the Blarney Stone (by proxy).
Doris was preceded in death by parents Homer and Elsie Hembree, husband Ides Gramling, and son Verlyn Gramling, as well as siblings Durell (Ruby) Hembree, Howard (Dorothy) Hembree, Tommy Hembree, Marcelle Hooks, and Helen (John) Murdoch.
She is survived by children (Jan) Gramling of Winston, Wayne (Debbie) Gramling of McDonough, Shirley (Ron) Baxter of Douglasville, Rhonda (Dan) Vest of Rockmart, Karen Burkett of Austell, Judy Fox of Idaho, and “honorary” daughter Vickie Cosby of Marietta; grandchildren: Mylon, Tracy, Tina, Joel, Scott, Daryl, Dana, Rick, Beth, Michael, Joshua, Alana, Autumn, and Amber; 45 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews..
She is survived by siblings: Virginia (Bill) Everett, Anne (Ted) Elsberry, Cathy Hembree, (Vera) Hembree, and (Edward) Hooks.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Castle officiating. Interment will follow at Powder Springs Christian Fellowship Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
