Donald S Newman's Obituary
Mr. Donald S. Newman, 85, of Mableton, Georgia; formally of Newnan, Georgia, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017. Donald served in the US Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Liberty National Insurance Co. after 31 years of service. He was a deacon at his church and a great craftsman. Donald loved rabbit hunting, fishing, and gardening, but most of all, he loved taking care of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Joan Couch Newman. He is survived by his son, Steven (Lisa) Newman of Griffin; daughter, Lisa Newman Martin of Mableton; granddaughter, Kristian (Cliff) Thomason; grandsons, Donnie (Kassie) Newman, Jacob (Emma) Martin, Daniel Martin, and Andrew Newman; great-granddaughter, Ava Evans; and two great-grandsons, Denver Thomason and Kasen Newman. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 26, 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Sam Locklear and Bishop Steven Newman officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. Arrangements are with Davis-Struempf Funeral Home & Crematory, Austell.
