David Michael Philipp's Obituary
David Michael Philipp, age 70 of Marietta passed away February 14, 2015. Dave is survived by his wife Terry, whom he met at the 1964 New York World’s Fair and with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
He is also survived by his daughter Christina Connolly and her husband Robert; his son Kenneth Philipp and his wife Julianne; and his 4 grandchildren Zachary, Jake, Jack and Samantha.
David was born and raised in New York City, the son of John Duggan and Jean Philipp. He attended St. John’s University where he earned a B.S. in Mathematics and also swam competitively for their swim team. He later earned an MS in Computer Science from Union College, NY and a MBA from Pfeiffer University in North Carolina.
He enjoyed a 45 year career at IBM which took him to many countries in Europe including the Netherlands where he and his family lived for one year. After his retirement from IBM, Dave shared his computer skills as a volunteer with Cobb Hospital and the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department.
The family will receive friends Sunday 5:00-8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home www.davisstruempf.com Funeral Services will be held Monday 2:30 PM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
