David Allan Douglas, age 72, of Austell passed away October 18, 2016. He enjoyed playing basketball, bowling, working on cars and loved oldies music. He also enjoyed working on houses and doing yard work. David is survived by his Read Obituary
My Brother was a strong and as determined as my Dad, and as gentle and as kind as my Mother. As a kid, he was diagnosed with a heart condition and advised not play sports. The doctor told my parents that David could be running to catch the bus and his heart could fail. When my Dad with whip us for something my older sister did (for something neither David nor I knew anything about), my Dad was careful with David because of his heart condition. This condition also prevented David from going in the military. But this did not stop David from playing basketball. In fact, he played varsity basketball for Woodrow Wilson (now August Martin) High School; and continued to play basketball after high school well into his 50’s. During the summer months while living in Jamaica, Queens, it was not unusual for David to play every day of the week. How amazing is that! So, it is completely in character for David to do battle and win nearly all the health challenges he faced over the years. This kind of strength of character and constitution is rare. I am a better person for having known him and proud to have been call – as I was known in Jamaica, Queens -- his little brother.

I love my cousins so much and they always came by to see me and my brother quite often as we did back and forth. We spent so much time together in queens him and his brother Clarence as we had very good times together. And now my eyes are running because of this serious hurt that has taken place. Cuz,may you rest in peace with all of Gods blessing forever and I am really going to miss you very very much. T
David was a kind, easy going and soft spoken guy that loved his family and people in general. For many years Dave & (Estelle, wife's cousin) would always extend words of encouragement & inspiration to us as a couple and I just believe everybody that they would meet would also be recipients of his/her united prayers.
Connie & I already miss you and there is no mistake about the fact that GOD has called one of his best representatives home to rest from his hard fought battles with adversities.
Estelle and family please be encouraged knowing that Dave is okay in the arms of a just GOD. Let not your heart be troubled, you must continue to believe in God as Dave did and you will see him again.
