David Otis Culler's Obituary
David Otis Culler was the eldest son born to Gabe and Mae Bell (Lockett) Culler on July 13th, 1944. David “Dave” Culler was adored by many and lived a long prosperous life filled with love. During his life, he received a variety of accolades for his service in the United States Army, where he served at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. He was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Parachute Badge, and Combat Infantryman Badge for his dedication to the United States Armed Forces. After his time in the military, he worked for the United States Postal Service. While working for the Postal Service, he earned his cosmetologist license from Minosa Beauty and Hair Design. He was a Master Stylist for over 30 years, and because of his passion for hair care, he went on to open Vogue, his own Beauty Salon and Boutique. He stated, “he loved being a stylist and couldn’t imagine doing anything else in life.”
He was preceded in death by his father; Gabe Culler, his sons; Anthony David and Keyon Tuemon Culler, and his sisters; Elizabeth Lofton and Angelina Walton.
David leaves behind to cherish his memory his mom; Mae Bell Culler, his children; Wanda Culler, Karen Culler, Damon (Terrell) Culler, Demetress Culler, Kendrick Culler, LaKeia Culler, brothers and sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
David Culler lived life to the fullest. He journeyed through life with the motto, “You can’t worry and trust in God, so don’t worry about a thing.”
David will be remembered for his infectious laughter, humble persona, and his many achievements.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 6th 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Gregory Lofton, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5th from 6:00-8:00 PM.
