God richly blessed me to know David and Linda Booth at Porter Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington, KY beginning in the late 1990s. As I received news on Monday of David's home going my heart felt the pain of loss as I remembered the man who had been a mentor to me in my personal walk with King Jesus during our time together. I will always remember how David and Linda modeled their love for Christ through their obedience to God's word, their service unto the Lord, and their passion for prayer.
God used David and Linda in my life to help me and many others realize that God treasures the prayers of His people described in Revelation 5 as incense that fill bowls of gold before the throne of God!
I remember many opportunities to pray with David, Linda, and others as God blessed us to join Him in the work He purposed to accomplish. David set the example in calling men at Porter to gather in the morning for prayer for the glory of God and the furtherance of His kingdom: that the nations would come to hear and know the glorious Gospel of the Savior, Jesus.
In more than one instance, my dear brother in Christ responded to me in my hour of need. On a difficult day in my life, I called my brother to ask if he could meet me to talk. Within fifteen minutes of my call David had driven to meet me in the prayer room at church to talk and pray in my time of need.
I miss my mentor and dear brother in Christ. Even more I rejoice that he is home with the Lord!
Dear Linda, Carrie, Josh, Eric, Bethany, and family: Know that God has called my family and others at Porter to pray for you this week.
