Darrell enjoyed life; his travels included Egypt, Tokyo, and various other places, around the world. He enjoyed traveling the United States, experiencing life on his terms, and sharing stories of his adventures with family and friends. Of all his travels, he enjoyed returning to The Bronx and spending time with his mother, Evelyn, who he loved and adored. He also enjoyed traveling to Delaware and South Carolina, where he spent time with his cousins and extended family members, who he cared for fondly.
Darrell was a devoted Christian who gave his time and talent to the church. He lived his life in accordance to Luke 6:38, Give, and it shall be given unto you.

The family is comforted by the fact that Darrell lived a full life and is now at peace:
When peace like a river attendeth my way,
When sorrows like Sea pillows roll,
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, It is well with my soul.
