Darrell L Bennett's Obituary
Mr. Darrell LeBoyd Bennett of Lawrenceville, Georgia, son of the late Robert Bennett, Jr. and late Annie H. Craward, was born June 1, 1955, in Wadesboro North Carolina. He departed his earthly home on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Vero Nursing Home in Wadley, Georgia.
Darrell graduated from Baltimore City College in Baltimore, Maryland. Upon completion, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for 18 years. His service included a tour of duty in the Gulf War. He was a recipient of the Outstanding Unit Award with One Leaf Cluster, the Good Conduct Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal with One Service Star, the Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with Two Oak Clusters and the Longevity Service Ribbon.
Upon completion of his military service, Darrell received his Airframe and Power Plant License at Rice Aviation of Aberdeen, Maryland, and was employed at B.F. Goodrich Aerospace. He later worked as a Court Probate Officer serving subpoenas. Darrell not only delivered subpoenas, he demonstrated a heart of empathy for those experiencing difficulties by helping them get training, find employment, and housing. He received the Mayor’s Citation for his contribution to the civic welfare of his community.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elisabeth and he leaves to mourn one son, Joshua Bennett of Duluth, Georgia; One daughter, Jessica Gicola (Joe) of Owingsville, Maryland; four grandchildren, DeMarcus, DeAndre, Dalen, and Devin; one brother, Robert Bennett (Gail); one sister, Alicia Hilliard; four uncles, Nathanial Bennett (Nona), Grover Bennett ( Natalie), Roger Bennett and Jimmy Bennett; three Aunts, Jessie Laws, Aletha Wilson, and RubyThorn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
