Dane Woodard's Obituary
We give honor and praise to the Lord for Dane Martin Woodard, born on January 26, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio. Dane attended Dayton Public Schools and Ohio University, where he was a very determined young man. Dane is the brother of five sisters and the son of his loving mother, Betty Jane Woodard. Mrs. Woodard describes Dane as the epitome of a real son. Dane subsequently moved to Atlanta, GA in the late 1980’s, where he met and fell in love with his future wife, Myra. Dane and Myra became one on April 26, 2001. After being together for nearly thirty years, Myra is grateful to have been blessed with an exceptional husband and best friend.
Dane began his professional career as a journeyman electrician, where over the decades he held various positions through the IBEW, lastly working as an electrician for Google. Dane had an overwhelming love for children, and he became loved and cherished in return. Dane was an exceptional chess player and taught those around him. Whenever Dane was around, he would over-fill the room with endless laughter and smiles. We praise God for the time He allowed us with Dane and the treasured memories we share.
Dane leaves to cherish indelible memories the following loved ones: his mother, Betty Woodard; wife, Myra Woodard; five sisters, Dory McClendon (Willie), Donita Garner, Dona Finley (Kenneth), Diedra Woodard, and Tyna Donaldson (Mark); godson, Christian Cave; and a host of endeared nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16th, 10:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Madeline Hill officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
