Cora Jane Porter's Obituary
Mrs. Cora Jane Porter, age 96 of Smyrna, passed away October 16, 2013. Cora was the oldest member of Concord Baptist Church. She retired from Cobb County Board of Education in 1989. She loved to spend her time outdoors and enjoyed gardening and her flowers. After retiring until she was well into her eighties, she mowed her own lawn and walked at least five miles every day.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Cleaston Porter and her son, Ray Porter and she is survived by her children: Gene & Carol Porter of Smyrna, Carolyn Pritchett of Lithia Springs, and Joan Bell of Marietta; grandchildren: Lamar Porter, Charlie Porter, Carol Baccus, Kevin Pritchett, Craig Pritchett, Shanda Collins, and Ben Bell; and seven (7) great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM. The funeral service to celebrate Cora's life will be held at Davis-Struempf Chapel on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mike Cronin officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
