Aunt Clyde was such an important part of my life from the time I was born. She loved me and my bro. & sisters as much as if we had been her own. She and my mother (her baby sister Charlotte) were great seamstresses, great cooks, and knew how to make a kid's life fun. I appreciate Aunt Clyde's wise advise to me when I got older about things like finding a good job. I love her and miss her a lot.##imported-begin##Reid Gardner##imported-end##
Aunt Clyde was more of a Grandmother. Aunt Clyde sewed and knitted for me. She came over every Spring and gave me a new perm for Easter, it was like a sping time ritual. The Christmas ritual was the ginger bread men tied in her Christmas Tree. She was such a small frame of a woman but I think she was the tallest, biggest presence I knew. She was a force,ready for anything yet funny,she made such funny faces. She was also feminine,comforting,supportive and always smelled so good. We have all missed her for sometime now. Our family was blessed to have Miss Clyde as our neighbor on South Martin Way. She was dearly loved by "her boys", Michael and Patrick. Her back door was their first stop on the way home from the hospital and that door was visited frequently for years to come. Even in these later years, she was happy to see them, pleased to know what they were doing and loved that they attended GT and UGA. She blessed us with her love, her humor and her fighting spirit.
