Clifton R. Foster's Obituary
Clifton Roy Foster, affectionately known as "Cliff", was born in 1951 in Mulgrave, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, to Sylvia and Wilfred Foster. He spent his early years growing up between St. Elizabeth and Portland, Jamaica, surrounded by family, faith, and the strong values that would guide him throughout his life. Clifton was raised in the Seventh Day Adventist faith, which remained an important part of his life over the years.
As a young man, Clifton trained as a welder at the Lacovia Training Center in Jamaica, a skill and trade he took great pride in throughout his life. In his early twenties, he left Jamaica seeking greater opportunities abroad, first spending time in Canada before eventually settling in New York.
In January 1979, Clifton met Pauline, the woman who would become his lifelong companion and best friend. They were married in 1983 and together shared 47 years of life, memories, and unwavering commitment to one another. They later made Georgia their home, where they continued building a life.
Clifton was known as a quiet, reserved, and laid-back man with a warm spirit and gentle sense of humor. He enjoyed simple moments, reggae music, cooking, sharing laughter, and spending time with the people he loved most. He enjoyed reading his Bible, attending church services, and spending quiet time in reflection and prayer. After moving to Georgia, Clifton and Pauline attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Lithonia together.
In later years, Clifton faced the difficult journey of dementia with quiet resilience and courage. Those closest to him continued to see glimpses of his warmth, tenderness, and caring spirit through the small gestures that meant so much.
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, Clifton peacefully passed away at Wellstar Hospice in Marietta, Georgia.
Clifton leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Pauline; his daughter, Viviene Foster; 5 stepchildren; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Audrey, Eula, Irene, Veronica, and Angella; extended family; and many relatives and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and gentle spirit.
Clifton lived a life marked by perseverance, faith, and quiet strength. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, June 6, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
