Claude Joseph White Sr.'s Obituary
Claude Joseph White Sr, age 83, of Austell passed away November 20, 2018. Claude accepted Christ into his life in the summer of 2018. He was born to Mildred & Eugene White Sr. on the 25th day of June 1935 in New Orleans, LA. Claude’s early education was obtained in the Orleans Parish School System and Walter L. Cohen High School in New Orleans, Class of 1952. After high school, he volunteered for service in the United States Air Force. He served eight years (four years active duty and four years active reserve duty) in the Force as a Senior Motor Vehicle Operator and Instructor and rose to the permanent rank of Staff Sergeant. Claude was a Korean War veteran and earned an Honorable discharge in October of 1960 with a permanent rank of Airman First Class.
After his service, he returned to college to study Management & Supervision, earning an Associate’s degree in 1974. He continued his education at California State University – Los Angeles to study Business & Economics. Using his education, he rose to a management position at a digital equipment corporation. After a thirty-year career in the technical and computer industry, career retirement was in order. He took an early retirement from Digital Equipment Corp. in 1990, relocated to Atlanta, and obtained his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) that he used to pursue a seven-year over-the-road motor coach touring experience ending in 1997. Claude enjoyed a full retirement while booking bus tours from his home office and accepting select driving assignments. He also did extensive charity work with Feed the Hungry, Meals on Wheels, and Wellstar Hospital.
Preceding him in death is his sister, Dorothy Mae Catlin; and brothers, Eugene White Jr., Milton White, and George White. Claude is survived by his son, Claude White Jr.; grandchildren, Tiffany White of Dacula, GA, Leah White of Worcester, MA, Courtney White of Boston, MA, and Ellec White of Boston, MA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 25th, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM before the service.
