Cheryl Scheck, 64, passed peacefully in the loving care of Emory Hospital in Atlanta on September 18, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Born on September 7, 1960, in Cincin Read Obituary
I interacted with Cheryl many times while working at Fulton County Animal Services. She was a very dedicated volunteer and I admired that. It was so nice to see her smiling face and positive attitude. She also had a great sense of humor and was all in all great to be around. Rest in peace Cheryl.
Cheryl and I met at Grant County High School, lost touch after graduation, but reconnected when we found out we both had moved to the Atlanta area. She shared her love for fostering dogs, and of course the Kentucky Wildcats. One of her last text messages to our small three person chat group was her telling us how lucky she was that we were in her life. I think we were the lucky ones. Now she’s gone back home where she can once again be with Nala, Elvis, and every other pet and person she loves. ‘Til we meet again my friend. 💙
Cheryl was my work associate, travel partner and co-volunteer with Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. In all of those capacities, she was a most special person and friend. I will miss her dearly, and honor the person she was.
I really enjoyed all the time I got to spend with Cheryl while we volunteered together at Best Friends and then worked on studying dog training. She was so patient and giving. Truly one of a kind. She will be greatly missed.
I will always remember Cheryl for her determination to get every dog ready for adoption. We were on a mission to get our “Mister” out of the shelter. He had been there sooo long and Cheryl was a huge reason he found his way to a furever home. She was such a great person and so compassionate.
Cheryl was so excited to see my pics when I was in Iceland and sadly she passed before I could send them to her. We had just been texting about the Bengals game the Sunday before she left us. Cheryl was a friend, longtime colleague, and a wonderful gifted person. I will miss her. God speed my friend. 💔
