Charles "Charlie" Arthur Myers' Obituary
Charles “Charlie” Arthur Myers, age 72, of Villa Rica passed away March 17, 2021. Charlie was born in 1948 in Atlanta to Chester and Elsie Mae Myers. Charlie proudly served his community as a firefighter with the Atlanta Fire Rescue from 1966 to his retirement in 2003. He was also a devoted Mason, having joined in 1969, and was a member of Leroy Duncan Masonic Lodge #262. Additionally, he was an umpire with the Amateur Softball Association from the 1970’s to the 1990’s.
In his free time, Charlie loved Harley Davidson and to ride with his club buddies, the Atlanta Harley Owners Group. But most dear to his heart was his wife, Donna, and they had been married for 45 years.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Elsie Mae Myers; and sister, Betty Ann. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Myers; daughter, Catherine (Reuben) Gunter; four grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Franklin; sister, Jerry Lynn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 23rd, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Pastor Josh Agan officiating. Interment will follow the service at Crest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
Anyone wishing to view the service virtually may do so via a livestream video that will appear on Charlie’s tribute page during the listed service time. In keeping with current precautions due to COVID-19, we are requesting that anyone visiting wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
