Charles Ruben Crider's Obituary
Charles “Charlie” Ruben Crider, age 81 of Powder Springs passed away January 28, 2018. Charles was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and an employee for Delta Airlines for 34 years.
Charles was a cattle farmer in Powder Springs and holds 14,100 recorded cumulative miles ridden on a horse as of 2016. He was a Fox Field Trail Judge in Georgia and Florida, the winner of Grand Night Champion Raccoon dogs, and a Team Consauga Volunteer Forestry Service Member. Charles was a competition champion horseman and a member of the Douglas County Saddle Club. He was a member of the North American Trail Ride Conference where he won multiple awards, trophies, medals, and ribbons.
Among his many accomplishments, Charles was an eight-time winner in the NATRC Team Award Heavyweight Division; seven-time winner in the National Championship Competitive Trail Rider; three-time winner for the Polly Bridges Excellence in Horsemanship Award; eight-time winner in Region 5 as 1st Place Horseman, and Best of America’s Horse in the American Quarter Horse Association as a multiple year winner.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Gloria Crider; son, Wade Crider. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Paulette Crider of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Mark Poore of Powder Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Steve Abad of Powder Springs; daughter-in-law, Linda Crider; brothers, Larry Crider of Lineville, AL and Wayne Crider of Cobb Town; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 3:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Rorie officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
