Carolyn E. Johnson's Obituary
Carolyn E. Johnson, age 77, of Mableton passed away September 12, 2019. Carolyn was a member of Tanners Baptist Church in Ellenwood, and a former member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. She loved to crochet and make presents for Christmas, or just to show that she cared. Carolyn was known for her giving heart and always putting others before herself. Her giving spirit was exemplified by her work with the Challenger programs at Milford Little League Baseball Park. She worked with the Challengers for 12 years; during which no child was turned away and no parent paid out of pocket for the program. All the children were funded through sponsorships and generous donations from the community. During her time with the Challengers, she helped establish Challenger Night with the Braves and took the team to play the first game before the Southeast Little League Championships. Carolyn felt called by the Lord to work with this program and it was her pride and joy.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Ronald Stephens; children, Tammy (Michael) Ross and Steven (Misty) Johnson; grandchildren, Mariah, Aliegha, Jordan, and Aaron.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16th, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Ronald Stephens officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. Flowers are accepted, however, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a children’s home of your choice, the American Kidney Fund at www.kidneyfund.org, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
