I read with sadness that Miss Allore has passed in the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Miss Allore (as a first grader I did not know that she was Mrs. Allore) was my first grade (1B as it was called then for the first semester) teacher at Oliver Wendell Holmes Elementary School from January -June 1960. It was in her classroom that I remember learning to read the Alice, Jerry and Jip books. I will never forget her. I eventually graduated from Glenville High School, Bowling Green State University (BSEd), Cleveland State University (MEd) and began my doctorate in elementary education at The university of Akron. She was a special teacher and undoubtedly one of the teachers that left a great impression, motivating me to become an educator. At present I am the Director of Preschool and Child Care for the Ravenna School District. I have been in education myself for over 35 years, not yet retired. I am 58 years old. I am sorry for your loss, but please know that I will never forget Miss Allore and loved her as a teacher.
