Bob J. Ingram's Obituary
Bobby Joe Ingram died Monday March 21, 2016 near Jackson, Mississippi.
Born February 3, 1931 near Boaz, Alabama, Bob was one of 10 children of whom 8 survived to adulthood. All of his brothers and sisters have preceded him in death.
Bob was a long time resident of the Atlanta area after growing up on Sand Mountain in Alabama.
He served in the United States Air Force in Korea, worked for Sears for a brief time in Chattanooga, and retired from Delta Airlines in1984, having joined the company in 1958 and working his way up from baggage handler to a lead gate agent.
Upon his retirement from Delta, Bob worked as the owner and operator of Ingram Motors. Cars were a lifetime passion of Bob’s and he enjoyed working on them and helping friends and family with their motor vehicle needs.
Active in church throughout his adult life, Bob sang in the choir and was chairman of deacons of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in East Point. After his move to Mableton in 1989, he joined Mt. Harmony Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, was a Sunday School teacher, and again served as chairman of the deacons.
Bob is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Juanita. He particularly loved being with his two daughters Bobbi, and Ann and their children. Bobbi is married to Mark Blackwell and they live in Ridgeland, Mississippi. They have two daughters, Sarah and Meredith.
Ann lives in Savannah with her husband David Baxter, and they have three children: Andrew, Matthew, and Lauren.
Many cousins, nieces and nephews survive Bob. He loved them all very much.
God has been good to “Daddy Bob”, blessing him with a long life, the love of his family, and an enduring relationship with Him.
On this Easter weekend we are all reminded that because He lives, we have hope.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Baxter officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
